Completed over the summer months, 9 systems were installed to combat the high electricity usage from banks of electric storage water heaters. The solution was to use the sun and there was a lot of real estate on the roof with which to utilise solar collectors and tubes. For this job we selected Apricus systems with evacuated tubes as they are more efficient that normal flat panels and are easy to install. Also, should the tubes be damaged, the system does not leak or stop working and tubes may be replaced individually and with ease. The system was installed in late 2015 early 2016 and is still working to maximum potential. The biggest challenge was installation during the hottest months of the year and we mitigated this by selection of days to be on the roof as well as hydration and additional break plans as well as starting early. I am very proud of the boys for putting in the extra effort for this job as we all slept very well each night!
